Physically, there’s not much left of the Civil War to see in Southern California. One exception is a building leftover from what was Camp Drum, later known as the Drum Barracks. A few years ago I took a day and went to visit the Drum Barracks Civil War Museum near Los Angeles.
On Saturday, August 29, the City of Los Angeles will celebrate its birthday and I will be a part of the celebration. What I will be doing is signing copies of my travel guide, Olvera Street: Discover the Soul of Los Angeles.
